Who publishes Cosmetic Journal

Cosmetic Journal is an independent publication with its own editorial standard. This page exists so it is clear who publishes what you are reading.

The standard this title is written to

• No invented practitioner, venue, price, study or review.
• Every commercial arrangement stated on the page it appears on.
• Sources are institutional and checkable.
• If a piece cannot be written truthfully, the piece changes, not the truth.

How this title is funded, and what is for sale

Nothing on Cosmetic Journal is for sale today. There is no advertising on this site, no sponsored article, no affiliate link, no paid listing and no referral arrangement with any clinic, practitioner, brand, retailer or agency. No company has paid for anything that appears here, and no company has been offered the chance to.

That may change, and this page says in advance what the rules would be if it did, so that a reader can judge the position before it arises rather than after.

• Labelled before it is read. Any paid, sponsored or affiliate content would be marked as such in plain words, at the top of the item and before the content itself, not in a footnote. The CAP Code requires a marketing communication to be obviously identifiable as one, and that is the standard this title would hold itself to.
• Named on the page that earns from it. A commercial relationship would be disclosed on every page that carries it, naming the company, not declared once somewhere in the small print.
• Marked for machines as well as readers. A paid or affiliate link would carry rel="sponsored".
• Never editorial position. No payment would buy a mention in an article, a place in a comparison, a better place in one, prior sight of a piece, approval of wording, a veto, or the removal or softening of accurate material, including accurate material about a competitor.
• Never a ranking. This title does not rank businesses it has not assessed, and a paid relationship would not add a business to any list, move it up one, or earn it a score or a verdict.
• Disclosed, never rewarded. A company that has paid for something here is treated in the editorial exactly as one that has not.
• No unverifiable numbers. This title does not publish audience, reach or traffic figures it cannot evidence, and would not quote one to a prospective advertiser either.

Corrections remain free and are published whether or not the person asking has ever paid anything, and they are never a commercial matter.
